Description
 English 4 will emphasize skills for success in college and beyond.  Reading and writing related to fiction and nonfiction will develop rhetorical skills.  Students will learn to analyze how a text works to address the author's purpose and audience.  Strategies for annotating, outlining and evaluating texts will prepare students to read and write for college courses.

Doublethink
• doublethink—The ability to believe two contradictory ideas at once. “War is peace” and “Freedom is slavery” are two examples. Doublethink is necessary for life in Oceania.
