"I don't have high expectations, I have HIGH SCHOOL expectations"
My name is Mr. Wendland. This is my 18th year of teaching at Walnut High School, 4 as the technology instructor. I am a graduate of WHS (1995) and am very grateful to be apart of such a wonderful learning community. I graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a B.A. in Mathematics in 2000. In 2004, I received my Master's Degree in Education from the University of La Verne. I did my student teaching at Claremont High School and taught at West Covina High School prior to joining Walnut.
Before becoming a teacher, I was a football coach here at Walnut for 6 years. I also worked as a supervisor at UPS. I learned a lot from those two jobs and wouldn't trade those experiences for anything.
I am married to a wonderful woman (my high school sweetheart), who happens to be a Director at our school district. We have two beautiful children together, a girl and a boy.
I use a lot of the strategies from the book
Fish!. Namely;
- Be Present
- Choose Your Attitude
- Make Someone's Day
- Have Fun
