About Mr. Mac

This is my twentieth year in Walnut Valley USD. You may remember me from Suzanne Middle School where I taught eighth grade math. I am currently teaching Algebra II and Algebra B.

I possess three teaching credentials, a masters degree, and was recently certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. In 2004, I was honored to represent my school, staff, and teaching profession as Teacher of the Year for Los Angeles County and the State of California.

In addition to teaching, I am also a co-coordinator for the Link Crew Program. This program 'Links' all freshmen with trained junior and seniors who serve as mentors. The purpose of the program is get students connected to school from the beginning and hopefully ease the transition from middle to high school. For more information visit boomerangproject.com.

Education is useless unless it is put into action. Our children have the capacity to change the world and it is up to us to empower them with the necessary tools and passion. To that end, I have built partnerships with two trustworthy institutions: School on Wheels and EcoTeach.

School on Wheels finds and assists homeless children from Santa Barbara to Pomona. Currently, more that 3,000 children recieve assistance from this totally volunteer organization. Volunteers enroll children in school, provide them with materials, and offer a quiet place to study and receive tutoring. My students will be given an opportunity to assist this organization.

EcoTeach is committed to educating students and preserving ecosystems of Costa Rica. My annual trip is open to all students who possess a sense of adventure, desire to experience cultural immersion, and are concerned about preserving our precious rainforests.

I realize that I can do nothing without the support of parents, the primary educators of their children. I welcome questions, comments, and especially your support.
