Part-Time Summer High School Intern

SALARY: $12.00 Hourly

DEFINITION: 8 week position
Walnut Valley Water District is currently seeking high school students to participate in an 8 week (PAID) summer internship program.  Available positions are in office support or field support.

ADMINISTRATIVE/CLERICAL SUPPORT:  Under direct supervision, will be responsible for providing clerical assistance to District office staff; responsibilities will include answering telephones, operating a computer, photocopying, and filing.
Desirable qualification for clerical position:  Ability to communicate effectively with customers and District personnel; be able to operate a computer (Word processing and Excel programs), and other office machines and equipment.
WATER DISTRIBUTION/FIELD SUPPORT:  Under direct supervision, will be responsible for providing assistance to District operations and general services personnel; responsibilities will include providing routine maintenance of District equipment, and assisting in general maintenance of District facilities.
Desirable Qualifications for Field Position: Ability to communicate effectively with District personnel; perform basic work assignments and general physical labor in an outdoor environment.

REQUIREMENTS:   High School applicants must reside within the District's service area and/or currently attend Walnut, Diamond Bar, Diamond Ranch, Rowland, or Ron Hockwalt Academies.  A valid California Driver's License is highly desired.  A valid Student Work Permit will be required upon appointment if student is not 18 years of age.  Please note that priority consideration will be given to students that reside within the District's service area.


Monday through Thursday, 16 hours per week
Office Support:  8:00 am – 12:00 noon or 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Field Support: 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm only
