What was happening in 1862 what is it the nation was split into and slavery was still present at that time  moving on tour second question to the author represent a the controversy will yes he's saying that all fleas need to be seen as free men and women have taken that particular because we know that in because of the Civil War we had two different sides we had the union and the Confederacy so Abraham Lincoln taking one of these guys going on tour last question what was going on in time when this particular piece was written does it reflect that time. well we know the Civil War was in progress during this time we had slavery during this time and we can tell all of that checking are primary sources and seeing what was happening during that specific time.
