Due:

Assignment

If you have not done so already, PRINT all of the following documents. In order to save paper and ink, I suggest you print them two-to-a-page. The Study Guide alone is 22 pages if you print them singly! DON'T complete them at home... you will do this in class. Just print them.

BRING all documents tand your book to class on Thursday and work on them IN CLASS. I will not be at school on Thursday; you'll have a substitute, and the sub will expect you to have all these documents to work on. Since I'm out, I will postpone the Chapter 5 Test until Monday.

ALSO -- IB kids... the WHS IA Guidelines for writing up your labs is below. Non IB students don't need to print this, but IB'ers do! This tells how I'd like your lab experiments written up. If you have IB Bio, it's pretty much identical to what you got from your Bio teacher, so no need to print it again.

NOTE: These cards use an older nomenclature (suffixes of -ous or -ic) for the names of transition metal cations. The more modern way to name them is to use roman numerals that designate their charge. You will need to know BOTH names!
Here are the names:
Cuprous = Copper (I)
Cupric = Copper (II)
Ferrous = Iron (II)
Ferric = Iron (III)
Mercurous = Mercury (I)
Mercuric = Mercury (II)
Stannous = Tin (II)
Stannic = Tin (IV)

Don't forget the ION QUIZ tomorrow!

Due:

Click the links below and print the documents.
The first link is a list of all the ions, both monoatomic and polyatomic, that you need to memorize. Put this list in your binder for reference.

The other link is the first of three sets of flashcards that you should use to help you memorize the ions. Print both sheets (one sheet is names, the other is formulas and charges) and then glue them together back to back, and then cut out the cards. YOU WILL HAVE A QUIZ ON THE IONS IN THE FIRST SET OF CARDS ON FRIDAY Aug. 26th. Quizzes on the other two sets will follow shortly thereafter.

You *should* be able to answer all these without having to read Chapter 1 of your text, because you **should** have already learned this stuff in Honors! Let's see what you actually remember....
