LA County Library Card Program
Last year, in partnership with the English Department, we set out to get every student issued a library card. As of October 1st, all students have the card and access to:
- Unlimited access to the library’s online resources, including 87 databases: Explore Databases
- Library login: Use your 13-digit library card (no spaces) and PIN.
- Borrow up to 3 print items with no fines or fees.
- Homework help: Chat with a librarian online, Monday–Friday, 12–6 PM for homework assistance via Instant Librarian.
Brainfuse - Live Tutoring
- Brainfuse Access
- Available daily: 1 PM to 10 PM
- Subjects: Math, Science, Reading/Writing, Social Studies, PSAT/SAT, ACT, AP, and State Standardized Testing.
- JobNow: Live job coaching, resume assistance, and more.
- Tutors are available in ESL and Spanish.
Log in with your student library card for access!
Student Survey Results
Over one week, 155 students shared feedback on the new library. Here’s what we found:
- Top reason for visiting: Quiet study space and homework.
- Top feature request: Better seating with charging stations and quiet zones.
- Awareness gap: Most students are unaware of the available online resources.
- Aesthetic preference: 55.8% of students preferred a cozy, quiet space with plenty of seating.
Mini Library on Campus
We now have 1,040 library materials—novels and plays—available in classrooms and workrooms for student research and reading.
