Math Analysis Summer (Period Summer)

Course Description

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to Math Analysis at Walnut High School. Math Analysis during the summer is very fast paced, therefore it is important that students attend all class sessions and complete all assignments on-time. Students are expected to behave respectfully and responsibly. All behavior should contribute to the positive learning environment of the classroom.

Additionally the following will be expected of all students:
1. Be on time to class, in your seat when the bell rings.
2. Respect other students and their property.
3. Bring all of the necessary materials to class.
4. Students will be expected to pay attention in class, take notes, and actively participate in the lesson.

Suggested Materials:
1. Spiral notebook for class notes for easy collection
2. Loose leaf notebook paper for homework
3. Pencils for homework and red pen for homework corrections
4. Scientific calculator. Graphing calculators may be used during class but not on tests.

Homework Procedures: Homework will be assigned daily and graded on a scale of 0-4, 4 being the highest score. Full credit will only be given to all papers that are neat, turned in on time and corrected in red, with the correct answers and supporting work. Students are expected to complete all assignments thoroughly and on-time with the following requirements:
1. ATTEMPT all of the problems to receive full credit.
2. You need to show PWA (Problem, Work, & Answer) for every homework assignment.
•Problem - Copy all of the problems. (For word problems, show where you start.)
•Work - Show ALL of your work!!!
•Answer - CIRCLE, BOX, OR HIGHLIGHT your answers.

Grading: Students will be graded according to a weighted grading scale. Tests and quizzes will account for 75% of the student’s grade. Daily assignments and notes comprise 25% of the total grade.

I am looking forward to working with you. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I can be reached by at [email protected] or via the school number (909) 594-1333.

Thank you,

Alison R. Shelton, Ed.D.
