Mustangs Shine in First Home Football Game of the Season!

Walnut scored early and often to open the season in a big way Friday night against the Garey Vikings. Dorian Hall scored the first Mustang touchdown of the night and the season then had another one on a nice 23-yard run in the second quarter. Sal Quintanilla threw for 2 TD’s, 61 yards to Phil Cotton and 19 yards to Demetrius Stampley.

The Stampede defense not only shut out the Vikings but held them to under 30 yards; nearly half of that was on one play. 18 Mustangs had at least one assisted tackle. Elias Riojas led the team with 10 tackles and 2 sacks, along with a safety that he shared with Ethan Acosta-Elizalde.

At Halftime, the Blue Thunder and Color Guard showcased their Stranger Things "Upsidedown" Performance that they will continue to perfect as they prepare for competition season.

Special thanks to ASB, our Student Section, and our Cheer Squad for keeping the energy up all night!
