All absences and tardies are to be cleared by the parent or guardian within one (1) school day via phone call or written note.  We do not accept emails or text messages for attendance purposes. Please ensure the note or voicemail includes the student's name, ID number, and the date(s) of the absence. 

All students who arrive late must sign in at the Attendance Office. 

If a student needs to leave school early, a parent or guardian listed on the approved emergency contact list must be present and show a valid ID at the Attendance counter in the main office. 

Important: Please review the new policy regarding cutoff times for student pick-up, located below under Early Student Release.   

Photo ID and signature are required for early student pick-up. The individual must be listed on the student’s emergency contact list. 

Students will not be called out of class until the approved individual is physically present in the Main Office, shows a valid photo ID, and signs the student out. 

Please note: 
 

The cutoff time for student release is 30 minutes before the end of the school day: 

• 2:55 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays
• 2:10 PM on Wednesdays 

No early releases will be processed after these times.

An unexcused (uncleared) absence occurs when a student is absent without a valid excuse. These absences must be cleared within one (1) school day after the last date of the absence. 

Uncleared absences will result in referral to the student’s Grade Level Coordinator and may lead to disciplinary action. 

To clear an absence, a parent/guardian should call the Attendance Office at (909) 444-3625 or (909) 444-3642, or the student can bring a written note upon return. Be sure to include the student’s name, ID number, and date(s) of absence. 

Most excused absences allow students to make up missed work. However, absences due to personal or family business may not qualify for makeup assignments. 

Students with excessive excused absences (over 15%) miss valuable instruction and class participation, which may put them at risk of failing.  

These students will be referred to their Grade Level Coordinator (GLC) for support. 

Attendance and tardy records follow students if they change classes. 

Students are expected to be in class when the tardy bell rings. Chronic tardies will result in consequences based on the discipline policy. 

To reinforce the policy, periodic campus sweeps will be conducted by administrators and Grade Level Coordinators. Students caught in a sweep may receive: 

• A tardy for that period
• An assigned detention
• Parent contact from their GLC 

Please arrive to class on time to avoid disciplinary action.

Students enrolled in a 6th period athletics class must check in with their assigned teacher and remain in class for the duration of the period. 

• Students are not permitted to wander or be elsewhere on campus during this time.
• Only students with a valid off-campus sticker are allowed to leave campus during 6th period.

Students may request a Short-Term Independent Study Contract for absences lasting 1–15 days per school year. 

To qualify: 

• Approval from the student’s Grade Level Coordinator (GLC) is required.
• The student must meet with each teacher to collect assignments to stay current during the absence.
• The Independent Study Contract must be signed by both the student and parent/guardian.
• All makeup work must be submitted within two (2) school days after returning.
  
• Teachers must sign the contract to confirm work completion.
  
• A signed copy of the contract and a work sample from each class must be returned to the Attendance Office.
  
• Final exams cannot be taken early to accommodate extended leaves. 
   

Please plan ahead and coordinate in advance to ensure a smooth process.
