Ms. Pierce begins her eleventh year here at WHS and twenty-sixth year as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
Prior to WHS, Ms. Pierce worked in Corona-Norco USD and then Chino Valley USD providing Speech and/or Language services to students in Kindergarten through Eighth grade. Ms. Pierce began her career working in various hospital, home health and private practice settings for five years before entering into Speech-Language Pathology in public schools.
Ms. Pierce received her Bachelor of Art’s Degree in Communication Disorders from Cal State University Long Beach and her Masters of Science Degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Redlands.
Ms. Pierce lives with her two teenage children and of course, one dog and two cats. In her free time, Ms. Pierce enjoys traveling in and outside of the United States, cooking (not baking) and watching her Kansas City Chiefs! She has enjoyed watching her Chiefs in California and in Kansas City, Missouri!
Mrs. Poole starts her fourth year at Walnut High School, and twelfth year as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
Prior to Walnut High School, she worked at schools in Southern Oregon, Dover Air Force Base, Delaware, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (on the playground is where she spent most of her day). Abbey received her Bachelor and Masters of Arts degree in Speech-Language Hearing from Temple University in Philadelphia.
In her free time, Abbey likes to do anything crafty, shop, binge Netflix, and watch her Philadelphia Eagles! When Abbey lived in Philadelphia, she won a contest to go onto the field at the 2-minute warning during a prime time Eagles vs. Cowboys game.
She lives with her husband, a US Air Force Veteran, her son, a wild and crazy kid, and their Goldendoodle, Stringer Bell
Mrs. Pena is beginning her 8th year as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant at Walnut High School. Prior to being an SLPA, Mrs. Pena worked in a play therapy / social skills program providing extra support for elementary-aged students. When the grant for that position expired, she decided to go back to school in order to join the speech department. She continued working part-time in the district’s modified ABA program called “Set Sail” until she graduated.
All in all, she has happily spent close to 20 years working in the Walnut Valley district at various schools, but her favorite placement so far has been here at WHS!
She is married, has two adult children and her own personal zoo which includes cats, dogs, and several desert tortoises. She also loves traveling, gardening, and spending time with her family.
